So, the DF7 had its fair share of hiccups during the first run, and I noticed some slight rubbing happening.
If you’re thinking about it, going for smaller wheels could really help with that friction.
There’s also a little rub at the back that’s gonna need some extra support with a cover.
It’s already bulging, which is a bit of a concern.
Modifying it could get tricky, and while I’m hoping it won’t break through over time, I’m not too sure about that..
What are the strengths and concerns of polycarbonate use?
So, let’s talk about polycarbonate! It’s super sturdy, but I did notice that the cage kind of stops midway on the hood, which causes a bit of front movement while in operation.
It’s a little odd because, while it affects the aesthetic, I wonder why they didn’t just extend the support bar for extra reinforcement against impacts.
That could really help in preventing any damage to the polycarbonate.
Despite these quirks, I’m really satisfied with how the machine handles, and it’s been fun to see its evolution alongside Mika.
One little hiccup I faced was a cardan pin that decided to come loose; I’ll check that out soon and swap it with a new one I’ve got ready to go..
How do you repair a replacement cardan?
Repairing a replacement cardan is pretty straightforward.
First, you’ll want to grab a metal drill to cut a piece that’s the right diameter and length.
After that, using some bearing glue will help hold everything in place without the hassle of welding.
This way, you can create a replacement cardan since it’s just one component that’s come loose.
Lastly, don’t forget to check the 2.5 screw on top to make sure it’s secure.
While it might not be a huge deal, nobody wants to deal with a loose piece on their first ride, so it’s good to check the tightness of every screw just to be safe..
How to Prep for an Upcoming Test Ride?
I’m checking out the other cardans to make sure none of them go kaput during my next ride.
This Saturday, I’m off to Bois de Rose to see how my vehicle handles out on the circuit, since my earlier tests were all on the track.
I reckon I’ll be riding for about 15 minutes; I usually don’t push it too hard.
After that, I’m planning to switch to the 12S settings.
